COSTEP Virtual Tours Highlight the Rio South Texas Region

May 8, 2024

COSTEP, Council for South Texas Economic Progress continues to promote the Rio South Texas Region. Its latest effort is to provide Virtual Tours of the region via video community profiles. These tours can be found on the COSTEP website: costep.org. Once on the landing page simply click on the Virtual Tour button. The tours provide information on the seven-county region, highlighting the major municipalities on both sides of the border. These include Brownsville, Matamoros, McAllen, Reynosa, Laredo, and Nuevo Laredo.

This is part of COSTEP's ongoing program of work. It falls within the COSTEP pursuit of business recruitment and targeted marketing of the region at the national and international levels. The content is not all-inclusive but is intended to provide visitors to the website, specifically site selectors, with a better understanding of the region. COSTEP encourages local economic development stakeholders to use these tours and leverage them in their business recruitment efforts. In a recent gathering with COBIFER, the Reynosa profile was presented and received positive feedback. COSTEP plans to include additional cities in the near future.

Adam Gonzalez, COSTEP CEO stated, “We are always looking for ways to optimally represent or portray the region. We hope to leverage these tours as we make our case for the region when inviting site selectors or company real estate directors to do in-person tours, like our Fam Tours or quick tours.”

COSTEP, Council for South Texas Economic Progress is a nongovernmental organization advocating regional economic development for the seven-county region of Rio South Texas. Servicing the counties of Willacy, Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr, Jim Hogg, Zapata, and Webb, COSTEP focuses on business recruitment services and provides regional market data to host site selector tours, regional familiarization tours, and area economic development enrichment sessions.
